Juliann Anesi
Juliann Anesi grew up in Sāmoa and then moved to Los Angeles. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor in Gender Studies at UCLA. Her creative writing is inspired by the hilarious stories told at family gatherings. She wrote about these stories in her diary and then coaxed her siblings and cousins to listen to them. Juliann’s passion for storytelling complements her research interests on disability studies, educational policies, decolonial feminisms, and girls and women with disabilities. She is a Board member of the Critical Ethnic Studies Association and has worked with non-profit organizations and schools in American Sāmoa, California, Hawai´i, New York, and Sāmoa.
